Can I use Z-Anatomy to study muscle lengths?

    dans About the anatomical content

Hi. I'm interested in exploring how various movements affect muscle lengths. Specifically, the hamstring muscle. Both movement of the leg and the hip can alter this length and I want to see the relationship between different combinations of motions and the resulting length (tension) placed on the hamstring. Is this something that I can leverage Z-Anatomy for? I'm comfortable coding in python but have not used blender before.

    Thanks in advance!

    Good morning Reza,

Getting the lengths of several muscles in several positions sounds completely doable.

The biomechanics file has been made to start exploring these possibilities.

The .blend, as it is now:

-translates .bvh (mocap) format to animate the skeleton

-uses constraints to limit and link the joints.

The animation of the muscles' meshes (or ligaments) is a different process but can be done too.

The Biomechanics programs that I have seen so far usually only represent the muscles with lines.

I don't know what else these program are capable of, but it can be worth doing a comparison.
